Oct 27, 2002
Israel Aircraft Industries [IAI] and Ness Technologies have signed a joint venture agreement for strategic cooperation in the fields of command and control systems both for Israeli and worldwide clients.
The IAI - Ness Technologies joint venture will unify the marketing, systemic and operational strengths of the two firms in this growing business field and will bring about a merger of the complementary capabilities of the two organizations. Both companies have strong proven experience in these fields and a large number of projects that have already been successfully implemented in Israel and in other international markets.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Moshe Keret, President and CEO of IAI and Mr. Aharon Fogel, Chairman of the Board of Ness Technologies and is subject to the approval of the relevant authorities.
During the first stage, the venture will deal with developing new projects for foreign clients. Early projections estimate that within a short time the joint venture will lead to new business connections with an annual volume of tens of millions of dollars.
At the signing of the agreement, Mr. Moshe Keret President and CEO of IAI, said that "this step is part of a strategic move in which we have defined the field of command and control as one of the core fields of IAI's business activity. This is a fascinating venture combining the capabilities of two large Israeli groups whose knowledge of command and control systems should lead within a short time to the establishment of a central focal point of capability in this very specialized field. IAI sees this field as a focus for future growth."
"IAI already has projects that include large elements of command and control and these will continue to expand. Command and control is an integral part of projects such as reconnaissance planes and sophisticated weapons systems, continued Keret."
Raviv Zoller, President and CEO of Ness Technologies said, "Combining the technological advantages of Ness Technologies and IAI and leveraging them by means of IAI's proven international marketing system, will enable the joint venture to compete in security markets with the leading companies in the field the world over." Zoller pointed out that "Ness has had a number of significant successes in the past years in the field of aerial command and control. The present system being used by the Israel Air Force was supplied by Ness. Ness Technologies has installed similar command and control systems in other air forces abroad. Ness' technological solutions were chosen because of their advantages and their contribution to significant operational upgrading."
Ness Technologies is the largest information technology (IT) company in Israel, and presently employs about 2,500 workers, who specialize in the fields of development, consulting and integration of software solutions. The annual turnover of the firm totals about $200 million.
