BAE SYSTEMS to provide Collins Class Periscope Support

25 Oct 2002

BAE Systems Customer Solutions and Support (CS&S) has signed a five year contract with the Royal Australian Navy to support the Collins Class Submarine Periscope Systems.

The A$5 million integrated support package includes the provision of maintenance, configuration control, supply support and a relationship with the periscope designer, Thales Optronics, for provision of technical advice.

"This contract is the culmination of many years of working in partnership with the Royal Australian Navy," said Mr Harry Bradford, Managing Director - CS&S, BAE Systems Australia. "This is the first instalment of a through life support arrangement that could extend to 25 years."

The contract will employ additional staff, based at the Naval Fleet Base West, Western Australia, to provide a waterfront support service and interface to the customer.

BAE Systems has played a key role as the Australian licensee for the Periscope Systems including the manufacture and assembly of all elements from mechanical, electronics and optical to complete systems, including the design, development and manufacture of the Low Light Television (LLTV).

The contract enhances BAE Systems reputation as a leading provider of through life support for the Australian Defence Force.
