The 3rd stage of the SCCOA Program
03 October 2002
Thales and EADS, in association with SchlumbergerSema, have been awarded a contract worth '238 million by the French defence procurement agency for the third phase of SCCOA*, the French ACCS** programme.
SCCOA will provide the French Air Force with a comprehensive capability to manage aircraft and air defence assets on a theatre-wide basis. By coordinating the Air Force's information and communication systems, SCCOA will shorten the OODA loop (Observe - Orient - Decide - Act) to achieve air superiority in both offensive and defensive operations.
The SCCOA programme was launched in 1993 with EADS as industrial prime contractor. This latest phase will include integration with NATO's ACCS LOC1 system.
ThalesRaytheonSystems, through its ACSI subsidiary, is prime contractor on the NATO programme, and the German subsidiary of EADS is also a programme partner.
For this French procurement, EADS and Thales have formed a joint company called MOSS S.A.S. to combine the prime contracting and systems engineering capabilities needed for the extensive SCCOA programme.
* SCCOA: Système de Commandement et de Conduite des Opérations Aériennes
** ACCS: Air Command and Control System
