Australian Navy Selects Typhoon 25mm For Replacement Patrol Boat

01 October 2002 -- The Australian Navy selected RAFAEL’s Typhoon Mk 25 stabilized weapon system for the Replacement Patrol Boat (RPB), a new generation of patrol boats planned for procurement next year.

Typhoon Mk 25 is a stabilized gun mount, designed to accommodate the 25mm marine Bushmaster gun. General Motors Defense Australia will build the weapon mounts in Adelaide, Australia, under license by RAFAEL. The Australian partner will also provide life cycle support for the Typhoons.

This is the second winning of RAFAEL in Australia. The Australian Navy has also selected RAFAEL’s LRCR Long Range decoy rockets for integration as part of the Anti Ship Missile Defense countermeasure suite to be installed on the upgraded Adelaide class frigates.
