INTRO: Indonesian officials say they have increased security in Aceh after a bomb was thrown near the airport before a visit by President Megawati Sukarnoputri. Patricia Nunan reports from Jakarta.

TEXT: Officials say a man threw what appeared to be a homemade bomb from the window of a moving car roughly two kilometers from the airport in Aceh's provincial capital, Banda Aceh. No one was hurt in the explosion. So far no suspects have been arrested.

The incident happened hours before Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri was to arrive in the province. During her visit, the president will inaugurate a new airline and open a conference held by members of her political party. She is not expected to leave the airport.

Located some 17-hundred kilometers north of the capital Jakarta, Aceh has been the home of a low intensity separatist conflict since the 1970's. The Indonesian government recently demanded that the rebels return to the negotiating table - or else face a possible renewed offensive later this year. (Signed)
