Lockheed Martin Team Selected for Military Personnel and Pay System Phase I Development
OWEGO, NY, September 18th, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin has been chosen as one of five prime systems integrators to participate in the first phase of the development and implementation of a new military personnel and pay system for the U.S. Department of Defense. The initial Phase I contract is valued at $1 million. The Lockheed Martin selection was announced by the U.S Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) for the Defense Integrated Military Human Resource System (DIMHRS) Phase I Risk Assessment contract. The Phase I contract will develop the system specifications and implementation plans for the enterprise personnel and pay system. The new integrated system will provide accurate and timely personnel and pay data, offer real-time access to benefits information, and enable service members to update personal information. This project is the largest integrated personnel and pay system in the U.S. Government history and is designed to reduce costs, improve efficiency, support military mission readiness and enhance the quality of life for service members.
"We understand the vision and expectations for a military personnel and pay system," said Peter Rogers, vice president of Systems Solutions at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego, "and we are extremely pleased to have been selected to provide the necessary planning for an enterprise Human Resource (HR) system solution for the Defense Department."
DIMHRS will support more than 3 million military personnel from all services and components of the armed forces using PeopleSoft® commercial-off-the-shelf software. Eighty-one legacy systems will be replaced across the military services. The U.S. Army will be the first service to complete initial operational capability, which is expected in 2004. Full deployment of the system across all services is expected by the end of fiscal year 2006.
According to Rogers, the team brings to the project unsurpassed military personnel and pay knowledge, PeopleSoft implementation experience and the technical integration skills required for the world's largest HR system. Teammates include Deloitte Consulting, Resource Consultants Inc., ACS Government Services Inc., and Enterprise Solutions Group, in addition to affiliations with InfoReliance, Intersect Technologies, the University of New Orleans and several small Louisiana technology businesses.
