BAE SYSTEMS and THALES sign milestone Avionics support agreement

BAE Systems Avionics Group and Thales have signed a milestone collaborative agreement to team for future avionics integrated operational support for UK rotary wing platforms. All UK MOD helicopter types utilize the two companies' avionics and mission systems including radar, electronic warfare, communication and navigation. The agreement formalises the excellent working relationship established on the Sea King Integrated Operational Support (SKIOS) initiative.
Joe Parker, managing director of BAE Systems Avionics Customer Support Services said: "The support of legacy systems offers significant challenges and today's announcement will build on the UK MOD's vision of a partnership approach with industry that can simplify and streamline the provision of support."
David Sheppard, managing director of Thales Sensors, commented: "The agreement heralds a new and mature approach to partnering within the support community, developing a closer co-operation between stakeholders and customers to determine and provide best value solutions."
BAE Systems and Thales are working jointly with the Defence Logistics Organisation, Westland Helicopters and DARA to deliver fully integrated support solutions with significant benefits in cost and performance.
