Lockheed Martin Receives Second French Air Force Contract for Laser Guided Training Rounds
Contract Has Potential Value of $23 Million
ARCHBALD, PA, August 21st, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin announced today that it will deliver laser guided training rounds (LGTRs) and related equipment to the French Air Force this year under a new contract valued at $(US) 3 million. The contract also includes four one-year options for LGTRs each year through March 2006, totaling $23.5 million if all the options are exercised. Since 1990, Lockheed Martin has delivered over 30,000 LGTRs to the U.S. Navy and customers in seven countries, including France under a $1 million contract awarded in 2001. The LGTRs are used to train aircrews in place of more expensive laser guided bombs. The company's facility in Archbald, Pa., supplies the LGTRs and also is one of only two U.S. suppliers for tactical laser guided bomb kits.
The French Defense Cooperation Attache in the U.S. procured the LGTRs on behalf of the French Air Force, which will be used initially to train pilots on Jaguar aircraft with future implementation on other aircraft.
