ATK Awarded $12 Million Contract To Build Composite Parts for F-22 Raptor Control Structure

Contract Expands Company’s Composite Work on Next-Generation Air Dominance Fighter

Minneapolis, July 23, 2002 – ATK (Alliant Techsystems, NYSE: ATK) has been selected by Vought Aircraft Industries, Dallas, Texas, to supply composite parts for the F-22 Raptor, the U.S. Air Force’s next-generation stealthy air dominance fighter.

Under an initial contract from Vought Aircraft Industries worth $12 million, ATK Composites, Clearfield, Utah, will fabricate composite parts and subassemblies for the F-22 horizontal stabilator, a key control structure on the aircraft. Vought Aircraft Industries will be responsible for final assembly of the stabilator. Delivery of the first ship set is scheduled for June 2003.

ATK also manufactures the F-22’s composite pivot shaft, another part of the horizontal stabilator. That work is conducted by ATK Tactical Systems, Rocket Center, W. Va.
