INTRO: An apparent suicide bomber blew himself up near a bus stop in northern Jerusalem Wednesday killing an undetermined number of people at a busy intersection in the city. It is the second bombing in as many days. V-O-A's Larry James reports from Jerusalem.

TEXT: A police official says it appears a suicide bomber detonated a device near a bus stop in the French Hill section of Jerusalem.

He said a number of people were killed in the blast but that figures on the number of casualties were being withheld until families can be notified.

At least 20 people were taken away by ambulance from the scene.

Israeli radio said the suspected bomber had just gotten out of a car near a bus stop. Witnesses said the man drew the attention of security officers in the area and detonated the explosive device as they approached him.

The French Hill section of Jerusalem has been the scene of several suicide bombings in the past. (Signed)
