CACI Awarded $25 Million Contract With Navy Personnel Command
Company to Provide Management and Software Support for Electronic Records System
Arlington, Va., April 3, 2002 — CACI International Inc (NASDAQ:CACI) announced today that it has been awarded a contract worth $25 million to continue providing support to the Navy Personnel Command's Electronic Military Personnel Records System (EMPRS) in Millington, Tennessee. The contract, awarded through the General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service in Atlanta, Georgia, on the Millennia Lite Functional Area 4 contract vehicle, includes one base year and five option years. Reasons for the award to CACI for continuing EMPRS support include the company's technical expertise and track record of sustained, successful performance. With the award, CACI expands its systems integration line of business and increases both the value and scope of the support it provides for Navy personnel and manpower programs.
With more than three million Navy records containing over 77 million images, the EMPRS program is the primary image and data repository of active duty, reserve, and retired personnel records for the Navy. Maintained by the Navy Personnel Command, EMPRS is the Navy component of the Defense Personnel Records Imaging System (DPRIS), the DoD program that maintains and manages active, retired, and archived military service records. EMPRS data and images are necessary for many Navy personnel actions, including promotions, mobilizations, and healthcare activities, and the system also supports responses to other Defense and non-DoD agencies that may need access to Navy records.
CACI's role under EMPRS is to provide electronic records management and software support services. As the Navy develops a strategy to replace EMPRS with a more robust, secure, and responsive records management system, CACI is leveraging its experience managing Navy programs to help define new program requirements and establish support policies. CACI is also providing software expertise such as trouble-shooting systems for accuracy and managing software configurations to ensure systems are installed and operating as required. CACI's support helps the Navy better deploy personnel, as well as ensure that promotions and pay increases are carried out on time, and health, medical, and retirement benefits are correctly administered.
As CACI President of U.S. Operations Ken Johnson sees it, "CACI's support and software expertise will help the Navy Personnel Command accomplish its mission of ensuring Navy records are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible. We understand that effective records management is critical to facilitating not only deployment and manpower logistics, but also service quality of life."
CACI Chairman and CEO Dr. J.P. (Jack) London said, "This award with the Navy Personnel Command expands our partnership with the Navy and gives CACI a strong presence in the area of Navy manpower and personnel. Our support for these essential programs positions us to further strengthen CACI's role as a leading solutions provider for the Navy and Defense Department."
