General Dynamics Awarded $30 Million Contract for Turret Mission Module Weapon Control System

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command-Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (TACOM-ARDEC) has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD), a $30 million contract for the development and demonstration of the Turret Mission Module Weapon Control (TMM-WC) system of the Multi-Role Armament and Ammunition System (MRAAS).

The MRAAS, envisioned by the Army as a highly lethal capability to be in incorporated into the Future Combat Systems program, will provide Line of Sight, Beyond Line of Sight and Non-Line of Sight fire capability on a platform that can be carried on a C-130 aircraft. The TMM weapon control system will provide the required weapon pointing control, accuracy and fires efficiency while operating in direct and indirect fire modes with new munitions and a new gun system.

The work will be performed at the General Dynamics Land Systems facility in Sterling Heights, Mich. The expected completion date is October 2005.
