BAE SYSTEMS supplies night vision sensors to the US army

BAE Systems Infra-red Ltd, Southampton, UK, has won a contract to supply Cadmium Mercury Telluride (CMT) arrays to its sister company based in Lexington, Massachusetts, USA.
The two key BAE Systems IR detector facilities have teamed their resources to support the US Army's ongoing need for IR detectors. Under a contract to BAE Systems IRIS (part of the Information and Electronic Warfare Systems division of BAE Systems North America), BAE Systems Infra-red, Southampton will manufacture several hundred linear detector arrays that will be used in current US Army IR systems. BAE Systems IRIS will assemble the arrays into a standard package to provide night vision sensors. BAE Systems IRIS is the sole US supplier for these IR sensors, with a 5-year indefinite quantity contract worth an estimated $60M.
