  • AFGHAN/FIGHTING VOA 08 Dec. 2001-- With the collapse of Afghanistan's hard-line Taleban militia, attention is now focused on the whereabouts of accused terrorist leader Osama bin Laden and his patron, Taleban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar. The last stronghold of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan surrendered on Friday.

The reopening was announced by the leader of Uzbekistan after meeting with U-S Secretary of State Colin Powell, now on a trip through Central Asia
