Lockheed Martin Information Systems Opens Test Facility In Orlando

U.S. Navy's largest automated test hardware and software kits program underway

ORLANDO, FL, November 2nd, 2001 -- Lockheed Martin Information Systems (NYSE: LMT) today opened its new Test Program Set test integration facility to provide the U.S. Navy with 545 avionics test kits. The kits will enable Navy and Marine Corps technicians to more efficiently test electronic systems on many of the services' fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Under a five-year contract worth up to $180 million, Lockheed Martin will provide integrated hardware and software kits, called test program sets (TPS), to the U.S. Navy for testing aircraft avionic systems. Navy and Marine Corps technicians use the TPS kits to execute automated tests on a standardized test station platform - the Consolidated Automated Support System or CASS - to detect and isolate faults in electronic assemblies on aircraft systems. Naval aircraft included in the avionic systems testing are: E-2C, EA-6B, F-14, F/A-18, AV-8B, S-3, and SH-60.

"This new facility is a visible demonstration of our commitment to customer support and to the success of the Navy's largest TPS program," said Lockheed Martin Information Systems President John Hallal. "We are the largest TPS developer for the U.S. Navy and this facility, housing up to 25 CASS stations, is Lockheed Martin's center of excellence for TPS testing."

More than 500 CASS workstations, the Navy's standard test system, are in use in Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Departments, both ashore and aboard ships and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadrons throughout the United States and allied nations. The CASS program is the first recognized DoD standard test system providing state-of-the-art general-purpose analog, digital, extremely high frequency stimulus and measurement capabilities and electro-optical test functions.

Marie Greening, Program Manager for Aviation Support Equipment at the Naval Air Systems Command, remarked, "Both the CASS and TPS programs are critical to Naval Aviation. These systems provide our young sailors and marines with the ability to keep our aircraft mission ready at the most affordable life cycle cost. Today, CASS is in use aboard every carrier, most amphibious ships and at every Navy and Marine Corps air station. This technology is at the heart of our nation's defense and the Navy joins with Lockheed Martin in celebrating the importance of this world-class facility and expresses sincere gratitude to both contractor and government members of TEAMCASS who insure CASS and its associated test program sets 'keep 'em flying'."

Lockheed Martin employs approximately 6,500 employees at facilities in Central Florida.
