- DoD News Briefing - Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz and Gen. Pace 21 Nov. 2001 -- "About 90 to 100 aircraft strikes were flown in support of the opposition forces. Some of that was not as effective as it might have been otherwise because of the weather. (...) Also, we were able to continue to strike the cave and tunnel complexes, where the leadership may be hiding."
- Bush Promises Military All It Needs to Win Long Battle Ahead 21 Nov. 2001-- "This mission will require sacrifice by our men and women in uniform. America appreciates that sacrifice," Bush said. - UN Convening Talks on Broad-based Afghan Government 21 Nov. 2001-- The Coalition spokesman in Islamabad, Kenton Keith, said the United Nations had made progress on convening talks to promote a broad-based, multi-ethnic government in Afghanistan, and that the talks would most likely take place in Berlin early next week. Keith spoke in Islamabad on November 21.

This new stage will run for one year to November 2002 and should mark the end of the competitive phase.
