General Dynamics' Unit Operations Center Team at Full Strength for Mobile Combat Operations Center
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) announced today that it will lead a team to compete for the ground combat operations centers for the U.S. Marine Corps. The program is worth an estimated $220 million.
The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command will procure Combat Operations Centers (COCs) under the Unit Operations Center (UOC) program so that Marine forces deployed throughout the world will have mobile facilities to collect, process and disseminate tactical data. The COC, administered by the Marine Air Ground Task Force Operations Center program office, will be the center of operations during all phases of Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare (EMW) and will support future tactical and combined force warfare command and control needs.
"With a long track record and clear grasp of the Marine Corps’ operational requirement, General Dynamics can bring proven low-risk processes, facilities and skills in a seamless approach to the Marine Corps COC," said Kenneth C. Dahlberg, executive vice president and group executive of General Dynamics Information Systems and Technology group. "General Dynamics has the experience and resources necessary to deliver a command and control operations facility that’s flexible, interoperable and rapidly deployable across Marine Corps’ command elements."
General Dynamics’ operation center experience includes wireless battlefield communication, fielding tactical communications networks, operation center facility design and the highest rated software engineering (SEI Level 5) capability for a low risk integrated solution.
General Dynamics is currently under contract for the Tactical Data Network/Digital Tech Control (TDN/DTC) program for the Marine Corps expeditionary units and is performing systems integration for the Extending Littoral Battlespace, Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ELB, ACTD) supporting the Office of Naval Research for the Navy and Marine Corps. Additionally, General Dynamics is also performing software integration, intercom switching and airspace integration for Common Aviation Command and Control Systems (CAC2S) for Marine Corps aviation.
Team UOC, under the leadership of General Dynamics, includes Brown International Corporation and Ocean Systems Engineering Corporation (OSEC). The teammates bring a depth of experience in design and integration of tactical operation centers for the military and new equipment training for combined strength in all aspects of advanced mobile information command and control.
Brown International, based in Huntsville, Ala., integrates Tactical Operation Centers for fixed land based systems and shipborne operations.
OSEC, with facilities in Oceanside, Calif. and Stafford, Va., provides tactical data systems and training support for Marine Corps operations.
General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., employs approximately 52,000 people worldwide and anticipates 2001 sales of approximately $12 billion. The company has leading market positions in business aviation, information systems, shipbuilding and marine systems, and land and amphibious combat systems.
