BAE SYSTEMS awarded contract for AN/ALE-47 countermeasure dispensing system

(Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, and Austin, Texas) The U.S. Air Force Warner Robins Air Logistics Center has awarded a $17.5 million contract to BAE Systems Integrated Defense Solutions to provide the AN/ALE-47 Countermeasure Dispensing System. The contract includes provision of AN/ALE-47 display units, programmers, safety switches, sequencers, and dispensers for various aircraft.
The AN/ALE-47 is the standard countermeasure dispensing system for the U.S. Department of Defense and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The AN/ALE-47 is a microprocessor-controlled, automatic threat-adaptive system that carries a mix of expendable stores, including programmable radio frequency (RF) decoys, chaff, flare and specialised cartridges to defeat the full range of infrared and RF missile threats.
"This newest effort continues the 30 years of experience BAE Systems has in countermeasure dispenser technology," said Larry Keutzer, AN/ALE-47 program manager. "Our focus is on providing flexible and reliable self-protection solutions for the complete aircrew."

The AN/ALE-47 contracting activity is managed by the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The AN/ALE-47 manufacturing is performed in Austin, Texas.
