  • JDAM MISSES INTENDED TARGET IN AFGHANISTAN DOD Press Release 13 Oct. 2001-- At approximately 6:30 p.m. EDT yesterday (Oct. 12), a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet missed its intended target and inadvertently dropped a 2000-pound GPS-guided Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) in a residential area near Kabul Airport, Afghanistan. The intended target was a military helicopter at Kabul Airport, approximately one mile from the residential area.
  • Text: Bush Updates Nation on War Against Terrorism 13 Oct. 2001-- American forces dominate the skies over Afghanistan and we will use that dominance to make sure terrorists can no longer freely use Afghanistan as a base of operations.

  • AFGHAN ATTACKS VOA 13 Oct. 2001-- Taleban authorities have rejected President Bush's offer of a "second chance" to surrender Saudi fugitive and alleged terrorist, Osama bin Laden
  • INDIA / KASHMIR GROUP VOA 13 Oct. 2001-- India has welcomed a United States decision to freeze the assets of a Pakistan-based militant group operating in the Kashmir region. The group was on a new U-S list of 39 organizations and individuals with terrorist links
  • AFGHAN REFUGEES VOA 13 Oct. 2001-- In Afghanistan, the refugee problem is growing inside the country as well as in surrounding areas. In northern Afghanistan people are fleeing their homes and heading for already overcroweded refugees camps
