INTRO: Vice-President Dick Cheney has been moved from Washington to Camp David. V-O-A's Paula Wolfson reports aides stress the move is purely precautionary.

TEXT: Mr. Cheney will remain at the presidential retreat in the mountains outside Washington for a few days.

Aides are trying to downplay the significance of the move, noting President Bush will remain at the White House. Mr. Bush is expected to join Mr. Cheney later at Camp David for all or part of the weekend.

Vice-President Cheney led the national security team in Washington on Tuesday - - when hijacked planes hit the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon. The Vice-President worked out of a secure area in the White House complex.

His move to Camp David Thursday came just a few hours after officials increased the security perimeter around the White House. Spokesman Ari Fleischer said the move may be only temporary, but added it is a reflection of heightened security concerns. (signed)
