- BUSH / DEFENSE VOA 24 Aug 2001 -- President Bush has chosen a new chairman of the military joint chiefs of staff. The decision comes as the administration continues its review of U-S military operations.
- MYERS PROFILE VOA 24 Aug 2001 -- President Bush has nominated General Richard Myers to lead U-S military forces. He could become the first person from the Air Force to serve as the nation's top military officer in nearly two decades. If confirmed by the Senate, he would take over from the Army's Henry Shelton as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in October. The four star general's background in Asia and aerospace defense played a key role in Mr. Bush's selection.

- BAE SYSTEMS upgrading mission planning systems for Italian Air Force BAE Systems 24 Aug 2001 -- BAE Systems has received a $4.2 million contract from Datamat of Italy to upgrade mission planning systems for the Italian Air Force's Tornado, AM-X, and C-130 aircraft. The company's Information & Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) business unit, Nashua, New Hampshire, will deliver new hardware and enhanced software originally delivered under a contract it received from Datamat in 1996.
- Boeing Delivers Final C-17 to United Kingdom Royal Air Force Boeing 24 Aug 2001 -- The Boeing Company today delivered the fourth and final C-17 Globemaster III military cargo aircraft to the United Kingdom Royal Air Force (RAF) during ceremonies at the company's production facility here.
- Full-Scale Model of Northrop Grumman's X-47A Pegasus Unmanned Demonstration Aircraft on Display at Museum Northrop Grumman 24 Aug 2001 -- A full-scale model of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) X-47A Pegasus experimental unmanned vehicle, on loan from the company, will be on display at the Naval Air Museum, Patuxent River, Md.
