- Boeing JSF X-32B Completes Government Flight-Test Requirements Boeing 02 Jul 2001 -- The Boeing Joint Strike Fighter program has successfully accomplished all of its government-defined flight-test requirements. The program reached the final milestone Sunday by making a series of short takeoffs at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in southern Maryland.
- U.S. Navy Commissions USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) Built by Northrop Grumman Ingalls Shipbuilding Northrop Grumman 02 Jul 2001 -- The USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7), the U.S. Navy's and Marine Corps' newest large-deck amphibious assault ship, left the Pensacola Naval Air Station today for her homeport in Norfolk, Va., following commissioning ceremonies here June 30.
- U.S. Navy Awards Northrop Grumman $81.3 Million Contract For LHD 8 Construction Northrop Grumman 02 Jul 2001 -- The U.S. Navy has awarded an additional $81.3 million to Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) company, for the continuation of work towards the construction of an eighth WASP (LHD 1) Class large-deck multipurpose amphibious assault ship.
