Flying to e-support for the French Air Force
27 June 2001
The French Procurement Agency (DGA) is preparing with Thales the implementation of an e-support solution to ensure the operational maintenance of the French Air Force communication equipment.
This project, based on a yearly set price of repairs with a commitment on equipment performance and availability, covers more than 10,000 maintenance operations each year and is globally estimated at 55 million euros over five years.
It includes the follow-up of each item, technical support, training and documentation, on-line assistance and contractual activity reports.
The secure extranet and e-services deployed to provide these maintenance services will connect all the actors in network and guarantee real time control and assistance to the users.
This project is the result of the close co-operation between the DGA, the Aeronautical Equipment Maintenance Integrated Structure and associates of the ministry of Defence and Thales Communications.
For Thales Communications, this strategic project demonstrates the company's will to take advantage of the new information and communication technologies to develop a true maintenance community with strong partnerships and thus open a new era in the customer/supplier relationship.
