THOMSON-CSF WILL SUPPLY MARITIME PATROL SYSTEMS TO THE INDONESIAN AIRFORCE

20 June 2001

Thomson-CSF and Indonesian aircraft manufacturer IPTN have signed a Memorandum Of Agreement for the supply of three CN235 aircraft manufactured by IPTN and equipped with AMASCOS (the Airborne MAritime Situation COntrol System) from Thomson-CSF Detexis, to the Indonesian Airforce.

The MOA was signed in presence of Mr Hikam, Indonesia's Minister for Reseach and Technology, on the occasion of his official visit to France.

AMASCOS features the Ocean Master search radar of Thomson-CSF, which is produced in cooperation with Dasa. The system also includes the ALR 733 Radar Warning Receiver from Elettronica, the thermal imager Ghlio of Thomson-CSF Optronique, and the navigation computer Gemini from Thomson-CSF Sextant.

This system is designed for maritime patrol missions. It is particularly well suited for the operational requirements of the Indonesian Airforce: surveillance of maritime traffic and fishing, monitoring of exclusive economic areas and anti-surface warfare.

The CN235 is a high autonomy aircraft with reduced maintenance requirements. It is used for transportation, maritime surveillance and Search And Rescue (SAR) missions.

AMASCOS has already been chosen by the navies of several countries, including the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Navy.
