Thomson-CSF makes an approach regarding a recommended offer for Racal

Thomson-CSF notes the recent press speculation concerning Thomson-CSF and Racal Electronics plc (Racal) and confirms that it made an approach in November regarding the possibility of a recommended offer for Racal. At that time, the average share price was significantly lower than the closing price on December 30th, 1999.
Consequently, Thomson-CSF distances itself from the latest press speculation regarding the value of Racal.
Although no satisfactory conclusion has to date been reached, Thomson-CSF would like to conclude an agreed transaction which will deliver value to both Thomson-CSF and Racal shareholders.
