Israel Aircraft Industries to Supply A-4 Aircraft to BAE Systems For German Air Force Training Support

Jun 18, 2001

Paris Air Show, June 2001 - The Lahav Division of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI/Lahav) has recently completed the refurbishment of four McDonnell Douglas A-4N aircraft for BAE Systems - Flight Systems Division (formerly Marconi Flight Systems).

BAE Systems personnel will maintain and fly the aircraft in Germany, towing targets under a separate contract for the German Air Force. IAI/Lahav will provide support to BAE Systems for the duration of the program.

The contract between IAI/Lahav and BAE Systems for the lease/sale of the ex-Israel Air Force aircraft includes a comprehensive Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package, which consists of technical assistance, training, documentation, spare parts and ground support equipment.

The A-4 aircraft have undergone all the necessary structural repairs and their engines and systems have been overhauled to provide extended flight hours. IAI/Lahav also upgraded the Avionics and NAV/COMM systems to meet the new Civil Aviation requirements.

The aircraft, which have had their weapons and guns disabled to meet the relevant FAA regulations, will be registered under civilian licensing in the United States under the Restricted Category.
