Paris Air Show, June 2001 - Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI)/Tamam Division has released for production the helicopter version of its new generation of Ultra-lightweight Electro-Optic Payload ' POP (Plug-in Optronic Payload). The release for production followed successful testing.

POP is a modular, compact, competitively priced stabilized dual sensor EO/IR (Infra-Red) payload. It is designed for day/night observation for Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, helicopters, Ground-station and ground vehicle applications.

A single observer, using a Hand Control Unit (HCU) and TV Monitor, operates the system.

The POP is based on a unique Plug-in slice concept. The 'slice' contains the Optronic sensors, which can be easily replaced in the field within minutes, without the need for alignment or adjustment. The slice concept allows for easy upgrades whenever new sensor slices are developed.

POP is designed as a day and night observation system with a high performance Focal Plane Array thermal imager and color TV.

The payload is able to host various sensor 'slices' such as FLIR, color CCD FLIR and LRF (Laser Range Finder). Automatic Video-Tracker is an existing option for all configurations.
