
USAF Selects Pratt & Whitney's F100 to Power F-15 Fighters
EAST HARTFORD, CONN., JUNE 11, 2001 - Pratt & Whitney has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to provide ten of its F100-PW-229 engines to power F-15E fighter aircraft, scheduled to be delivered in 2003 and 2004.

"The combination of the F-15E and the F100 engine have been shown to be an extremely effective combat proven system, and we are pleased to be members of an outstanding U.S. Air Force and Boeing team."
The F100 engine has a remarkable record of achievement. F100-powered F-15E aircraft are undefeated in air combat. The F100-PW-229 engine has the best safety record in the U.S. Air Force. And the -229 engine recently demonstrated its durability in the most demanding accelerated mission test ever conducted in U.S. Air Force history.
To date, more than 300 F100-PW-229 engines have been purchased by the U.S. Air Force to power F-15 and F-16 fighter aircraft. In addition, more than 600 -229 engines have been delivered or are on order for international customers. The worldwide installed base of the F100 engine family encompasses more than 6,500 engines.
