
General Dynamics Receives $3.6 Million in Ammunition Contracts
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it has been awarded two ammunition contracts valued at $3.6 million.
The U.S. Army Industrial Operations Command at Rock Island, Ill., has awarded an additional quantity to the existing multi-year ammunition contract for the supply of 120mm M831A1 and M865 Tank Training Ammunition. The year’s production provides for a quantity of approximately 2,600 rounds of ammunition valued at $1.2 million. These rounds, which are fired from the M1A1/A2 Tanks, provide the U.S. Army with the most realistic training rounds available. This contract will be managed out of the St. Petersburg, Fla. facility. Manufacture of projectiles will be conducted at the Red Lion, Pa. facility.
In addition, the Department of the Army, TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., has awarded a $2.4 million contract for the development and production of 6,000 rounds of 20mm XM1031 Lightweight Multi-Purpose Cartridges; 21,000 rounds of 20mm XM1032 Lightweight Target Practice (TP) Cartridges; and 1,000 rounds of 20mm Inert Lightweight Cartridges. The XM1031 and XM1032 Cartridge are used by the U.S. Army on the Comanche Helicopter. Work will be performed at the company’s Marion, Ill., facility and is expected to be completed by August 2002.
