Nexgen gears up for DIDS
22 Mar 2001
NexGen Logistics is ramping up its operations in preparation for the Department of Defence’s announcement of preferred tenderer for the Defence Integrated Distribution System (DIDS) program.
“NexGen Logistics recognises that the size and complexity of DIDS demands early attention,” said Mr Peter Anstiss, Chairman, NexGen Logistics.
“The human resource aspects of the DIDS project are crucial. Realising this, we have selected a National Manager to manage this program should we be successful.”
In addition, NexGen Logistics have drawn up a wages policy and certified agreement to ensure NexGen Logistics wages will parallel current Defence wages.
The NexGen solution gives positive employment opportunities across all effected sites, urban, regional and rural.
“The DIDS contractor must be resourced to deliver quality logistics at sustainable cost – and a smooth transition is vital,” said Mr Anstiss.
The DIDS project involves warehousing, distribution and maintenance activities across Australia.
NexGen Logistics, a provider of performance-based logistic support, is led by three defence industry leaders – BAE Systems, Honeywell and Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc.
Additionally, NexGen Logistics has enlisted the services of K&S Group, John Holland Construction, National Jet Systems and Anteon Australia to bring the most comprehensive suite of capabilities to Australia’s military personnel.
“NexGen Logistics has presented an innovative, value based solution that reflects the Government’s drive for improving cost effectiveness and the quality of services,” said Mr Anstiss.
“We’re confident that NexGen Logistics will deliver an outstanding supply chain system to meet the ADF’s needs.”
