BAE SYSTEMS to provide logistics to US government agencies World-Wide

19 Mar 2001

Ref: 038/2001

BAE Systems has secured a 10-year schedule from the US General Services Administration (GSA) to offer a large range of logistics services to all US Government agencies and activities around the world.

BAE Systems Applied Technologies can provide the following services under the GSA's Logistics Worldwide (LOGWORLD) Schedule - supply and value chain management services, acquisition logistics, distribution and transportation logistics services, deployment logistics services, and logistics training services.

US Government agencies can go directly to BAE Systems and acquire logistics services with minimal process. The schedule also allows BAE Systems and customer US Government agencies to develop new logistics services and introduce them without further administrative process.

Under this ten-year schedule, BAE Systems Technical Services has also been designated "reseller", enabling it to offer its own services directly as well as act as an agent or conduit for the services of Applied Technologies to US Government agencies.

Bruce Hamilton, president of BAE Systems Technologies Services Sector, said: "This award adds to the list of GSA schedules under which we provide logistics support services to our clients, while saving money and minimising the procurement process for government offices."

GSA schedules are an important business segment for BAE Systems. BAE Systems Applied Technologies currently holds GSA Schedule 70, Information Technology (IT); Management, Organisational and Business Improvement Services (MOBIS); and Professional Engineering Services (PES) schedules that operate in a manner similar to the current LOGWORLD Multiple Award Schedule.
Note to Editors:

The General Services Administration (GSA) is one of three US Federal Government central management agencies. The other two are Office of Personnel Management and the Office of Management and Budget. GSA’s mission is to "provide policy leadership and expert solutions in services, space, and products, at the best value, to enable Federal employees to accomplish their missions."

Created in 1949 to provide for the government an economical and efficient system for the procurement, supply and disposal of real property, personal property and services, as well as uniform policies and methods of procurement, supply and related functions, GSA today encompasses the Public Buildings Service (PBS), the Federal Supply Service (FSS), the Federal Technology Service (FTS) and the Office of Government-wide Policy (OGP). Together they provide the workplace environment in which U.S. Federal agencies serve the public.
