Israel Aircraft Industries Awarded Contract For The Supply of EHUD AACMI Training Systems to The Royal Netherlands Airforce
Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel, 4 March 2001 - Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. (IAI)/MLM Division announced that it has received from Cubic Defense Systems, U.S., a subsidiary of Cubic Corp., an order for the supply of 24 "EHUD" Autonomous Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (AACMI) systems for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). The contract's value is over $9 million and IAI/MLM's share is over $7 million.
This contract comes just weeks after the IAI/MLM "EHUD" system was selected by the Belgian Air Force, which also operates the F-16. In Belgium, the "EHUD" system was provided by Germany's BGT.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force will operate the "EHUD" system, which is one of the most advanced systems of its kind in use in the world today. Israel, Germany, France, Italy, England, Belgium, Portugal and the NATO Air Flying School (TLP) have already selected the "EHUD" system for their flight training systems. The IAI/MLM Division "EHUD" AACMI system and its unique sophisticated communications data-link are considered the standard within NATO countries for pilot training.
Mr. Yair Ramati, IAI/MLM's General Manager, said that "EHUD is a GPS based, rangeless AACMI System, replacing expensive ground tracking stations and a large land area for the training range. The system records all flight maneuvers of the aircraft carrying the recording device which can then be replayed during the post mission debriefing session. It enables pilots to improve their air combat skills and try out new tactics in air combat maneuver. We are proud that the RNLAF and the Belgian Air Force chose the EHUD System manufactured by us."
New orders registered by IAI/MLM for the "EHUD" AACMI system topped $50 million during the year 2000.
The "EHUD" system purchased by the RNLAF includes the airborne pods produced by IAI/MLM. Cubic Defense System, which is the prime contractor for the program, will provide the PC-based debriefing ground station.
