General Dynamics Wins Anniston Army Depot Telecommunications Infrastructure Upgrade

NEEDHAM, Mass. – General Dynamics Worldwide Telecommunication Systems, a unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a delivery order for $10.1 million to upgrade and expand the telecommunications infrastructure at Anniston Army Depot, Ala., under the US Army's Digital Switch Systems Modernization Program. The delivery order includes a major upgrade of the Anniston Army Depot outside plant cable infrastructure, associated building wiring, and design of a Gigabit Ethernet data network system.

The combined cable plant and data network upgrade is a comprehensive telecommunications implementation under the Army's Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP), using the multiple-award Digital Switch Systems Modernization Program (DSSMP) as the contract vehicle. The Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Center, Fort Monmouth, N.J., selected General Dynamics for this best-value award from among several DSSMP contract holders that bid on the project. The CECOM Systems Management Center, also headquartered at Fort Monmouth, will oversee implementation of the project.

Dan Allen, vice president of General Dynamics Worldwide Telecommunication Systems, emphasized that General Dynamics is very pleased to be selected for this opportunity to enhance the telecommunications capabilities of Anniston Army Depot.

"We look forward to working as a closely knit team with the Army CECOM and ISEC program managers and engineers, and with the Anniston Army Depot Directorate of Information Management, to make this a smooth, successful upgrade. This project will position Anniston Army Depot to take full advantage of today's and tomorrow's rapidly evolving telecommunications technology," Allen said.
