The following statement was issued today by the Office of the Spokesman for Secretary-General Kofi Annan:
The Secretary-General has been informed by his Special Representative in Kosovo of the unrest in several detention facilities in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, including in Nis. The Secretary-General urges the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to take all necessary measures to ensure the security and well-being of all prisoners, and in particular, the Kosovo Albanian detainees.
