SERBIAN PRISON CHAOS CONTINUES. Serbian inmates at three
Serbian prisons prisoners continue to demand better
conditions and their inclusion in a general amnesty being
drawn up for ethnic Albanian prisoners (see "RFE/RL
Newsline," 7 November 2000), AP reported. Hundreds of ethnic
Albanians were evacuated from a prison in Pozarevac after
they were threatened by Serbs for not joining in the
protests. At a Nis prison, prisoners are wearing guard
uniforms and are armed. At least one man has died in the
uprising at the prisons and several people are reported
injured (see also "End Note" below). PB
