NIGER: 13 nationals killed in October's ethnic clashes

Thirteen nationals of Niger were among 100 people killed in mid-October
clashes between Hausas and Yorubas in Lagos, AFP quoted Niger's state radio
as saying. A news source in Niamey, the capital of Niger, told IRIN that the
death toll was furnished to the government by the Niger Embassy in Nigeria.
AFP said five other Niger nationals were seriously wounded and admitted to
hospital. The Nigerian government blamed a now banned Yoruba vigilante
group, the Oodua Peoples Congress, for starting the four days of violence on
October 15 that also spread to other cities in Nigeria.
