ANGOLA: Government helicopter shot down

An Angolan Armed Forces'(FAA) helicopter was reportedly shot down by
suspected UNITA guerrillas on Tuesday near the town of Umpilo in the central
highlands province of Bie. Portuguese television said the 14 military
personnel onboard survived. "Local government sources who confirmed the
fact, say that after the crash of the helicopter all 14 members on board had
survived, but only 13 were rescued 15 minutes afterwards by another
helicopter," the report said. "The disappearance of one crew member, a
captain, was due to the intense UNITA firing that the survivors were subject
to, right after the helicopter crashed."
