Lockheed Martin Announces New Training Initiative at Simulation Conference in Orlando

Virtual company provides live, virtual and constructive domain training

ORLANDO, FL, November 29th, 2000 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) today announced a new collaborative initiative providing training and simulation solutions for military, civil, and commercial customers. Lockheed Martin, through this initiative, is focusing the training capabilities of five existing companies under a common banner to better meet customer requirements, increase synergy and improve operating efficiency. The businesses joining in the venture are: Information Systems, Orlando, Florida; Missiles & Fire Control, Dallas, Texas; Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems, Akron, Ohio; Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems, Manassas, Virginia; and Systems Support & Training Services, Seabrook, Maryland.

Products and services in the new Lockheed Martin Training line of business portfolio span the training continuum of live, virtual, and constructive domains for flight, naval and ground systems applications. Addressing this continuum with products ranging from high fidelity virtual simulators to modern wargaming models and full-service schoolhouse operations, Lockheed Martin will offer its customers tailored solutions to address their readiness needs.

"Training is a key factor in the readiness equation for our customers, and we remain committed to partnering with our customer to achieve their readiness goals, " said John Hallal, president of Lockheed Martin Information Systems.

"No other major defense firm is moving as aggressively to break down existing stovepiped business structures as Lockheed Martin," said Jay Korman, senior associate with DFI International. "In the training and simulation realm, the firm is able to leverage multi-disciplinary capabilities inherent across different operating units to provide the customer with lifecycle solutions, versus more narrow program-specific approaches. This fits well with where the market is moving, both domestically and internationally."

"Lockheed Martin's technical expertise in simulation can make a significant impact," said Relf Crissey, executive director of the National Center for Simulation. "We are pleased to see this commitment to provide total training solutions to all facets of society."
