Secretary-General condemns political murders in Spain
30 October - Secretary-General Kofi Annan today reacted with shock and indignation to the "cold-blooded" murders of a Spanish judge and two associates.
Supreme Court judge Jose Francisco Querol Lombardo, his driver and bodyguard were killed in an attack this morning in Madrid.
Through his spokesman, the Secretary-General said he "mourns with the Spanish people and sends his sincere condolences to the families of those killed so brutally."
Mr. Annan also took the occasion to categorically condemn terrorism and political violence from whatever quarter. "He would like to stress once again that only by peaceful means can we truly resolve grievances," the spokesman said.
