State Department Noon Briefing, October 25, 2000
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
DAILY PRESS BRIEFING
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2000 - 1:50 P.M.
(ON THE RECORD UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)
Q: Two days ago, I believe, in Cyprus in the Greek Cypriot side,
anti-aircraft missile, they locked a Turkish jetfighter, and Turkey
urged the Greek side if the next time happened, they will attack. And
also, the Aegean problem - they arise again between Greece and Turkey
-- they have a problem.
You were at the past as the peace broker between the two countries in
the - both Cyprus and Greece and Turkey. Do you have anything, any
reaction?
REEKER: I don't have anything particular on the situation there. I
think I have seen various reports. There were some NATO exercises
involved there, and I would refer you to NATO commanders for details
on that. But I just don't have anything to add on that situation.
(The briefing was concluded at 2:30 P.M.)
