UN mission in Eritrea-Ethiopia boosts its air transport capacity
24 October -- The United Nations peacekeeping operation in Ethiopia and Eritrea today boosted its air transportation capacity with the arrival of helicopters, a UN spokesman announced in New York.
Briefing the press about the deployment of the UN mission, spokesman Fred Eckhard said four M18 Russian-made helicopters had arrived in Asmara and would be in operation next week.
The helicopters will be used to transport troops, personnel and supplies to the UN mission team sites, the spokesman said.
