Bosnian Serb convicted of war crimes to serve sentence in Germany: UN tribunal
18 October -- The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) today confirmed that a Bosnian Serb convicted of crimes against humanity would serve his sentence in Germany.
According to the ICTY, an ad hoc arrangement has been made between the Tribunal and the Government of Germany, allowing Dusko Tadic - who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for torture and other crimes committed at the Omarska prison - to be transferred to Germany in the near future to serve his sentence.
As for the timing of Mr. Tadic's transfer to Germany, an ICTY spokesman told the press today in The Hague that it would be "quite soon," but declined to give an exact date or time due to security considerations.
Meanwhile, the Appeals Chamber for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda is expected to decide tomorrow on the appeal of Jean Kambanda, the former Rwandan prime minister who has appealed his sentence of life imprisonment on genocide charges.
