Oct 3, 2000
Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) / MLM Division recently signed a contract to supply "EHUD" Autonomous Air Combat Manuevering Instrumentation (AACMI) System to a foreign customer. The contract is worth approximately 25$ Million.
IAI / MLM's "EHUD" system is considered to be the most advanced combat flight training system available today. "EHUD" features navigation by means of a GPS satellite system and advanced training and flight safety software which includes alerts against aircraft collisions, crashing into the ground and topographical obstacles, and deviations from pre-determined flight parameters.
The "EHUD" system allows a virtually unlimited number of pilots to train interactively through an advanced communications channel. The system also provides capability for training officers stationed on the ground to monitor the training in real time.
IAI's "EHUD" system has been selected in the past by the Air Forces of Germany, Italy, France, Turkey and Portugal, the NATO Flight School, Thailand and other countries.
During the year 2000 (January through September), IAI / MLM Division signed contracts for "EHUD" system worth a total of 36$ million.
The "EHUD" system is also competing in several other tenders throughout the world and executives in MLM forecast a large volume of sales for the system in the coming years resulting in a leading position for "EHUD" in the international AACMI market segment.
