Djibouti President urges Security Council to establish peace mission in Somalia
14 September -- The President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, today asked the United Nations Security Council to "give serious consideration" to a UN post-conflict peace-building mission in Somalia.

The call by the Djibouti leader, who has led his country's peace initiative on Somalia, was made in a private meeting this afternoon, during which he had briefed Security Council members on the situation in that east African country.

According to an official communiqué issued after the meeting, members of the Council then made comments and posed questions in connection with the briefing, and President Guelleh responded to them.
