1 September -- President Abdurrahman Wahid of Indonesia today assured senior United Nations officials of his continued support for ending the security and refugee problems in West Timor and for maintaining good relations with East Timor.
The President made his remarks during a meeting in Jakarta this morning with Sergio Vieira de Mello, head of the UN Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET), and Peacekeeping Force Commander Lt. Gen. Boonsrang Niumpradit.
In a separate meeting today, the UN delegation held discussions with members of the Indonesian Cabinet on a comprehensive plan for the return of all Timorese refugees from West Timor within the next three to six months.
