- Boeing Consolidates Manufacturing Operations, Keeps Significant Space And Defense Work In Puget Sound Boeing 18 Aug 2000 -- In an effort to further streamline its operations, The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) announced consolidation plans for several manufacturing areas in Puget Sound and told employees of key defense and space programs that much of their work will remain in the region.
- Lockheed Martin Wins UK MoD Electronic Warfare Contract Lockheed Martin 18 Aug 2000 -- Lockheed Martin has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) following an extensive competitive source selection process to undertake an Assessment Phase contract for the Soothsayer Electronic Warfare (EW) system for the British Army and Royal Marines. Soothsayer is a next-generation EW system that will provide integrated Electronic Support Measures and electronic countermeasures capability for UK land forces with potential extension to airborne platforms.
- ATK Solid Rocket Boosters Successfully Launch U.S. Air Force Satellite Aboard Titan IV B Rocket ATK 18 Aug 2000 -- ATK (Alliant Techsystems) (NYSE: ATK) said a Lockheed Martin Titan IV B rocket powered by two Solid Rocket Motor Upgrade (SRMU) boosters designed and manufactured by ATK Aerospace Propulsion Company, Magna, Utah, successfully launched a National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. yesterday.
