17 July -- Officers from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese Army began today an inspection tour of the withdrawal line along the border with Israel.
"The visit has so far been successful with most of the violations alleged on the Israeli side having been corrected, although the Lebanese army officials did raise questions about two points along the border," a UN spokesman said today in New York.
"By the end of today, one-third of the line had been inspected," the spokesman told a press briefing at UN Headquarters. "It is expected this visit will be completed by Wednesday morning."
The spokesman also said that Secretary-General Kofi Annan's next report on UNIFIL was due to be released next Friday.
