Lockheed Martin Contacts Team Receives Award for Cycle Time Reduction

ORLANDO, FL, July 27th, 2000 -- The LANTIRN Foreign Military Sale (FMS) Contracts Team at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control-Orlando partnered with Precision Attack Development Systems Office at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base received a Cycle Time Reduction Award at the 3rd Annual Celebration of Teams Awards Ceremony at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

"The team's work and efficiency in developing and implementing a unique Requirements Contract with the Precision Attack Development Systems Office contributed to LANTIRN's mission success," says Jim Garrison, Program Manager for LANTIRN, "by reducing the response time from foreign customer LOA (Letter of Offer and Acceptance) signature to contract award 92%, from 13 months to 1 month. This resulted in a reduction in the manpower needed to work through the contracting process and a reduction of costs to the customer through consolidation of buys and avoidance of production line breaks."

LANTIRN (Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night) allows aircrews to operate worldwide in daylight or darkness at all mission altitudes up to 40,000 feet to meet the requirements for precision attack of surface targets. As the backbone of precision attack, LANTIRN is a combat-proven force multiplier that provides a spectrum of capabilities to the US Air Force, the US Navy, and the air forces of thirteen allied nations.

Located in Dallas, TX and Orlando, FL, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, a world leader in electro-optics, smart munitions, advanced combat, missile, rocket and space systems, is an operating element of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration business unit based in Bethesda, Maryland.
