General Dynamics Receives Order for 10 Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge Vehicles
Order restarts program
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems a $34.4 million contract for 10 Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge (HAB) vehicles. Delivery of the vehicles, at a rate of one per month, begins June 2001.
The contract represents an incremental funding to the existing Abrams (Wolverine) multiyear contract and restarts the program that has been delayed by Program Budget Decision 745.
"The Increment Three funding represents a bridge to the long term program that has a potential of 162 vehicles through FY '06," said Joseph Mayton, Land Systems Wolverine Heavy Assault Bridge program director.
Work on the HAB is done at the General Dynamics operated Lima Army Tank Plant in Lima, Ohio; and Land Systems' Scranton Plant in Eynon, Pennsylvania, Muskegon Operations in Muskegon, Michigan, and Tallahassee Operations in Tallahassee, Florida. All work will be done with the existing manpower at each facility.
General Dynamics Land Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD). General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, employs approximately 43,000 people worldwide and has annualized sales of approximately $10 billion. The company has leading market positions in business aviation, information systems, shipbuilding and marine systems, and land and amphibious combat systems.
