Lockheed Martin Wins $277 Million, Six-Year Air Force Special Operations Training Contract
ORLANDO, FL, July 10th, 2000 -- Lockheed Martin Information Systems, a business unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), has been selected to provide combat aircrew training and mission rehearsal operations for the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command and Air Education Training Command. Lockheed Martin will provide aircrew training delivery, mission operations and support at both Kirtland AFB, N.M. and Hurlburt Field, Fla. under the Aircrew Training and Rehearsal Support (ATARS) contract. The U.S. Air Force Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill AFB, Utah awarded the firm fixed-price and cost-plus contract, valued at approximately $277 million over six years.

"Our commitment to leverage new technology and commonality across similar programs, including the C-130 Aircrew Training System, delivers more value to our customers while reducing cost. Additionally, distributed mission operations, mission rehearsal and training development as required in ATARS, further expands our extensive training and simulation portfolio."
Lockheed Martin is engaged across the simulation continuum providing virtual, live and constructive training systems to military and commercial customers. Within the previous year, the Orlando-based Information Systems unit has received major U.S. Defense Department training contracts covering all aviation platforms for the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy.
Lockheed Martin employs approximately 6,500 employees at facilities in Central Florida.
